GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State
University head volleyball coach Demetria Keys-Johnson announced the
release of the upcoming 2019 schedule on Friday, which features two
non-conference tournaments.
Grambling State, which went 11-24 overall and
7-11 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, will compete in
the Florida Atlantic Invitational and the New Mexico State Springhill
Suites Invitational
this season. In addition, the Lady Tigers have nine home games and will
visit Jackson State and Prairie View A&M for SWAC Roundup matches.
GSU opens the 2019 season Aug. 30-31 at the
Florida Atlantic Invitational and will meet hosts FAU. Niagara and
Stetson. The Lady Tigers play host to Louisiana-Monroe and Tougaloo
College on Sept.
2 and Sept. 4, respectively, before visiting Northwestern State on
Sept. 10.
A trip to Las Cruces, N.M. awaits Grambling
State Sept. 13-14 to compete in the New Mexico State Springhill Suites
Invitational. GSU will face off against host New Mexico State, Portland
and Lamar.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Dillard on
Sept. 17 and will face McNeese State and Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 20 in
Lake Charles, La.
Grambling State returns home on Sept. 24 to
take on Jarvis Christian, before travelling to Prairie View, Texas to
compete at the SWAC Roundup. The Lady Tigers will take on Jackson State
and Mississippi
Valley State (Sept. 24), Alabama A&M and Alcorn State (Sept. 28)
and Alabama State (Sept. 29).
GSU returns home for three straight games,
starting on Oct. 6 against Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern (Oct. 7)
and Dillard (Oct. 11).
The Lady Tigers will visit Southern (Oct. 13) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Oct. 17), before playing host to Centenary on Oct. 22.
Grambling State will compete in the second
SWAC Roundup Oct. 25-27 in Jackson, Miss. The Lady Tigers will meet
Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State (Oct. 25), Alabama A&M
and Alcorn State (Oct.
26) and Alabama State (Oct. 27). GSU continues play on the road against
Tougaloo College (Oct. 31), Prairie View A&M (Nov. 3) and Texas
Southern (Nov. 4).
The Lady Tigers wrap up the regular season at home against Southern (Nov. 10) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 14).
The 2019 SWAC Volleyball Tournament will be played Nov. 22-24 in Itta Bena, Miss. and hosted by Mississippi Valley State.
