Former Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) standout Tyre Gathright has taken his basketball talents to Denmark.
Gathright recently signed a one-year deal with the Randers Cimbria professional team. He is projected to be in the starting lineup when the season begins in October.
Last season, Gathright played professionally in Sweden. He averaged 14.7 points in 33 games with the Norrkoping Dolphins.
As a collegian, Gathright was a sharpshooting guard during his two seasons at SAU. He scored over 1,000 career points and was a two-time All-CIAA performer from 2017 to 2019.
As a senior, he was selected CIAA Male Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Lowe’s CIAA Sr. CLASS Men’s Basketball Award winner for his athletic and academic achievements in addition to helping the community. Gathright was also a BOXTOROW All-American and an N.C. Collegiate Sports Information Association All-State selection.
Gathright graduated from SAU in May 2019 with a business administration degree.
