Norfolk State outside hitter Gabrielle Gilbert has been named to the All-MEAC Volleyball First Team, the conference announced Wednesday evening. The recognition marks the third First Team honor of her standout Spartan career.
Gilbert was one of the MEAC’s most dangerous offensive threats all season. She closed the regular season with 397 kills and 3.93 kills per set, both ranking third in the conference. Her all-around impact was just as impressive—finishing with 461 total points (4.56 per set), 157 digs, 46 blocks, and 38 service aces.
The senior delivered several dominant performances, highlighted by a career-high 26 kills in a win over Hampton on Nov. 4 and a 25-kill effort against Delaware State on Nov. 2. She reached double-digit kills in 24 matches, including five matches with 20+ kills.
Gilbert wrapped the season with a .206 hitting percentage on 1,149 total attacks, posting some of her most efficient outings during conference play—such as a .390 hitting performance against Morgan State (Oct. 24) and .353 vs. South Carolina State (Nov. 7).
Norfolk State enters the postseason as the No. 7 seed in the MEAC Tournament and will take on No. 2 seed Howard in the Quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m., hosted at Coppin State University.
