Browder named to Social Justice Task Force

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana’s Bo Browder has been named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Social Justice Task Force.
The WBCA announced the 12-member committee Wednesday. Browder is the only representative from an NAIA member.
The task force functions under the auspices of the WBCA’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and is focused on promoting racial equality in three areas: hiring practices, training and education, and advocacy and awareness.
“I feel very honored to be part of such an important group that’s trying to make major social changes within athletics,” Browder said. “One of this group’s goals is to make sure that student-athletes understand the electoral process and have a greater understanding of everyday issues. The task force wants to make sure that women’s basketball reflects its great diversity. This committee has a chance to make major changes in college basketball, which would include improving the experience for student-athletes, improving the hiring process for minority candidates and also making an impact on social-justice issues.”
Other college head coaches on the committee are Christy Martin of Saint Martin’s, Gene Hill of Georgia State and Blake Dudonis of Wisconsin-River Falls. Co-chairs are Tracy Ellis-Ward, Big East Conference associate commissioner, and University of California head coach Charmin Smith.
This is Browder’s 22nd year as head coach of XULA women’s basketball, and his career record with the program is 485-202.
