North Carolina A&T State senior setter/rightside Edie Brewer was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year, the conference announced. Howard was predicted to claim the Northern Division, while the Aggies were tapped to be atop the Southern Division.
All awards were voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.
Brewer, one of two players to earn MEAC Player of the Year honors in 2019, was an all-around force for the Aggies, ranking in the top 10 in the conference in several statistical categories. She was seventh in the MEAC in both points (3.45/set) and assists (5.68/set), and she was ninth in kills (2.79/set) and hitting percentage (.260).
In helping the Aggies win the Southern Division and advance to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), Brewer was second in the MEAC last season with 17 double-doubles – including eight triple-doubles (second-most in the nation).
