Jones recognized by North Carolina Central University

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Office of Alumni Relations has chosen its 2020 class of Forty Under Forty, which recognizes outstanding young alumni who are making a significant impact.

This year’s class features Alabama State University Deputy Director of Athletics Terrance Jones, a two-time graduate of NCCU. Jones received his Bachelor of Arts in sports recreation management in 2011, and then his Master of Public Administration in 2013.

Jones, in his fourth year at Alabama State and second in his current role, is responsible for fundraising efforts with the Hornet Club and all external components of the athletic department – marketing, communications, and tickets – while also having sport administrator responsibilities.

He has spent time in the athletic departments at North Carolina Central – five-plus years in the marketing department – and Delaware State as the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions. Jones is a member of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA).

In the summer of 2016, he graduated as a participant in the NCAA Leadership Institute in Phoenix (Ariz.) and also serves on the advisory board of TicketReturn, LLC.

The honorees are chosen by a committee of their peers, are all under age 40, and have made contributions to the arts, law, entertainment, healthcare, sciences, U.S. military, education, business, philanthropy, and public service. The awards were created to recognize the next generation of NCCU alumni who are making a difference in the world. They represent approximately one-third of the university’s under-40 alumni and a valuable percentage of NCCU donors.

The selection committee was comprised of NCCU alumni, administrators, and industry leaders. A virtual event to honor and recognize the class will be announced soon by NCCU.
