Howard University has wrapped up its fall football camp and now shifts focus to the season opener against Florida A&M University (FAMU) in the 2025 Orange Blossom Classic, scheduled for August 30 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

The Bison enter the season following a camp marked by competition across multiple positions. Coaches highlighted the performance of both returning veterans and new additions, noting that the mix has contributed to overall depth.

Several key players are expected to play central roles this season. On offense, preseason All-MEAC First Team running back Eden James (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) leads the backfield, while wide receiver Breylin Smith (Lakeland, Fla.) and offensive lineman Tim Artis Jr. (Cornelius, N.C.), another preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, bring experience and stability.

Defensively, Howard features senior defensive lineman Noah Miles (Tampa, Fla.), a 2025 STATS Perform FCS Preseason All-American, along with linebackers Judah McJimpsey (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Cam Dyson (Wayne, Mich.). In the secondary, redshirt junior defensive backs Kaleb Gallop (Portsmouth, Va.) and Kedrick Green (Winston-Salem, N.C.) are expected to play key roles.

The Bison also added several newcomers during the offseason, adding to the roster’s overall depth and competition.

Howard’s opener against Florida A&M will serve as an early-season test and a rematch of the 2023 Cricket Celebration Bowl, where FAMU secured a 30–26 victory in Atlanta. Kickoff for the Orange Blossom Classic is set for 4 p.m. ET.
